How do I get a counselor if I have Medicaid (also known as Apple Health)?

Types of Apple Health Insurance Plans are referred to as Managed Care Organizations (MCO). Check your coverage and call the customer service department for information about providers that are in-network.

It is usually a good idea to start with your Primary Care Physician to talk about symptoms and seeing a counselor. Call the number on the insurance card to connect with the Managed Care Organization (MCO) to inquire about in - network providers. You may have the option to be seen in the “ Behavioral Health Department” if you have a Primary Care Physician (PCP) within a larger organization like Providence or The Everett Clinic. (Ask your PCP and/or your MCO.) Community Mental Health Centers accept Apple Health (all MCO’s) insurance plans. Each agency has walk-in “Intake” appointments. Call the local agencies to inquire further.
